Dorrian Porter is an entrepreneur living in Menlo Park, California. In February 2013 he started Northern Imagination, a company named in tribute to his Canadian roots and dedicated to the pursuit of creative projects, ideas and inventions.
Prior to Northern Imagination Dorrian spent twelve years building and leading two venture backed start-ups based in San Francisco and the Silicon Valley. In 2005 he founded Mozes, a cloud-based mobile engagement platform licensed by world leading brands and major entertainment companies, which was acquired by ePrize in 2013. In 2000 he founded HigherMarkets, a provider of e-commerce software to universities and colleges, which was acquired by SciQuest in 2002. Through 2005 he helped transform SciQuest into a leading provider of SaaS software for spend management.
Prior to 2000 Dorrian was an attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, California and at McCarthy Tetrault in Vancouver, British Columbia. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1997 with J.D. and M.B.A. degrees and from the University of Ottawa in 1993 with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (concentrations in Public Policy & Management and Political Science). From 1990 to 1993 Dorrian worked at the Parliament of Canada, including the Prime Minister’s Office.
